These are ashes caskets in solid oak or solid mahogany.
The choice between them is the same choice as with a coffin. Oak is golden with an open, flowing grain. Mahogany is a deeper reddish brown with a closer grain and a more formal look. Both are solid timber rather than a veneer.
Matching crosses are available in both timbers if you would prefer that shape.
A casket in solid timber is made to be kept rather than used once, whether that means keeping it at home, placing it in a niche, or interring it later. They can be engraved with a name and dates.
